A fantastic quality Horseshoe nail brooch.
Circa 1900, the brooch is set with old cut Diamonds and a central cabochon Sapphire.
The setting is open back, made of 14ct gold.
The brooch bears the import hallmark for gold items sold in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The brooch fastens with a simple bar pin.
The workmanship is of the entire piece is of fine quality.
The Horseshoe nail is a symbol to remember to look at the small things!

The poem ‘For the want of a nail’ was quoted by Benjamin Franklin;
“For the want of a nail the shoe was lost,
For the want of a shoe the horse was lost,
