This is a wonderful, early 19th century fob crafted in 12 carat gold.
Circa 1820/30; The fob contains an oval transparent quartz stone, with a finely carved intaglio of a bird flying free from a cage.
The words around the edge of the seal read:
‘Qui me neglige me perd’ which translates as;
‘He who neglects me loses me’
Such a cool sentiment that we should adhere to in many walks of life!
The elegant 12ct gold frame is reeded and has a ball finial at the top, and, where each arm reaches the base.
The fob is the perfect size to hang from a simple chain.
