A stunning French 18ct gold chain, from the first half of 19th century.

The long chain is made of an intricate fine foxtail link, which is super smooth and slinky.

Usually a foxtail link is made of many strands of plain gold plaited / twisted together, but this chain is unique as one of the strands is a rope twist which had been plaited in with the plain strands.

It’s just so pretty when worn.

The chain has an 18ct gold sphere finial from which a French dogclip is suspended. This is perfect for adding pendants.

The chain can be worn twice or three times around the neck, or clipped with the dog clip, making this piece super versatile.

The chain is hallmarked with the French eagles head on the finial ring and dogclip, which guarantees 18ct gold.

It also bears a left facing rhino head which was used between 1838 and 1847 in Paris.
