ANTIQUE GEM SET ‘DEAREST’ CRESCENT PENDANT

A super cool late Victorian crescent pendant, with a secret message.

The 15ct gold crescent is set with seven gemstones. The first letter of each stone spells out the word ‘DEAREST’.

The gemstones are set with a star gypsy setting, in the following order:

Diamond, Emerald, Amethyst, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Turquoise.

The Georgians and Victorians were extremely fond of sending secret messages to their loved ones, and acrostic jewellery was the perfect way to hide a love note.

 The combination of the coloured gemstones against the bright yellow gold of the crescent is striking and looks gorgeous on a simple chain.
