An exceptional pair of Victorian beetle earrings!

The earrings are made of two perfectly preserved Victorian beetles which are larger in size than the usual beetles found in this type of jewellery.

The beetles have the most fantastic luminescent shells, which are in amazing condition. All the different colours light up as the earrings move.

The 9ct gold settings are open at the back, so you can see the full detail of the taxidermy beetle, which is so fascinating.

The earrings have slender gold bar drops, and solid 9ct gold shepherds hooks that clip at the back, so they are super secure.

The earrings look excellent on, and are super light so they are very comfortable to wear.

The trend of wearing real bug jewellery first became popular in the Victorian period.

People were fascinated with the new discoveries of foreign lands, exotic animals and bugs during this time.As urbanisation grew, the Victorians become more detached from nature, so using bugs and animals as adornment was a way to bring them a little closer to nature again!
