A very cool pair of 19th century ‘gold rush’ nugget earrings.
Each earring is made of two totally unique gold nuggets. With a mini nugget at the top and a chunky nugget drop, connected by a fine 18ct gold chain.
These totally unique shaped specimens of natural gold are likely to have been found during one of the famous ‘gold rushes’ that took place during the mid 19th century in; Australia, California, and then Klondike, Alaska.
During the gold fever thousands of people travelled to these sites to sift through silt along the river edges panning for gold!!
Each nugget is thought to be approximately 70-90% pure gold, naturally mixed with other metals such as silver, copper and palladium.
The earrings have been set with high carat gold shepherds hook wires.
I’m a huge fan of nugget jewellery! And this is the first pair of earrings I have found!!!
