ANTIQUE SAPHIRET FACETED PENDANT

A really cool antique saphiret diamond shaped pendant.

The large chunk of saphiret is dichroic, meaning it shows two different colours. Shifting colour from a rusty orange to a light bluish lilac .

The pendant is set in a traditional clawed silver setting which is open back. This allows plenty of light into the stone.

The saphiret has a lovely deep pavilion (back of the stone) giving the piece great depth of colour.

The pendant hangs from a tubular silver bail, which looks super modern when attached to a chain.

Saphiret is a highly collectible type of glass which was produced in Czechoslovakia during the late 19th and early 20th century. The glass was made by fusing sapphire coloured glass with real gold, which created a dichroic effect, where the colour shifts from a rusty orange to a bright blue or lilac.
