A supercool pair of early 19th century Ouroboros Snake hoop earrings.
The earrings are continental, likely Sicilian, with multiple partially legible hallmarks.
The hoops are made of 14ct gold. Designed to depict a snake biting its own tail when fastened.
The earrings are traditional ‘front to back’ design, so the prong passes from the back of the ear and fastens at the front. Which is actually very secure, and easy (once you get used to putting them on)
They are super light, so comfortable to wear all day long, and the size of the hoop makes them perfect for all occasions.
The ouroboros snake represents eternity and eternal love, and was a popular symbol in 18th and 19th centuries.
