FRENCH PASTE SAINT ESPRIT PENDANT

A superb paste Saint Esprit Dove pendant.

The dove is encrusted with lovely quality old cut paste stones that sparkly fantastically.

The boggle eyes and beak are set with rose cut garnets. Red stones were often used in the Georgian designs of these pendants.

The Dove is diving downwards, the edges of the wings look like flames.

The pendant is set in silver, then backed in gold.

Circa 1790-1810

Representing the Holy Spirit, this popular peace symbol in the form of a dove was known as a Saint Esprit.

It was popular in the late 18th Century/ early 19th Century originating in France.
