EARLY 19TH CENTURY AGATE FOB PENDANT ‘TO YOU ALONE’

A charming early 19th century agate intaglio fob pendant.

The fob is made from a lovely smooth carnelian agate with white lace layers.

The intaglio at the base of the fob has a picture of a compass and the words:

‘A VOUS SEULE’ which translates to ‘TO YOU ALONE’

The sentiment could be to a loved one, with the compass guiding the way to a lover.

Or, the seal could have been used to close private or secret mail - for the eyes of the recipient only!

The fob hangs from a scrolled high carat gold bail.

The fob is the perfect size to wear alone, or with a bunch of charms.
