GEORGIAN ENAMEL SNAKE MOURNING BROOCH

A Georgian mourning snake brooch with wonderful black crosshatch enamel.

The snake has raised diamond eyes.

A black heart hangs form the snakes mouth inscribed with the initials ‘CSD’

The edge of the heart has a beautiful black enamel pattern.

The reverse reveals the pendant is filled with a hair locket and sealed with the original glass panel.

The 18ct gold is engraved with:

‘Charles Scrase Dickens, died 11th Oct 1833, age 71.

Size approx: H: 3.2cm x W: 2.5cm
