A gorgeous chunky Ouroboros snake 15ct gold split ring.
This Georgian split ring, circa 1820/30 is modelled as an Ouroboros snake biting his tail.
The ring has cross hatching along the snakes body, and a carved head.
This piece can be used to add charms to a chain, or, worn as a ring. It also makes a fantastic stacker ring.
The split ring is in excellent condition, and the carving of the snake is fantastic.
The Ouroboros has been a popular symbol since ancient times. Literally meaning ‘tail-devourer’.
The symbol represented the concept of ‘eternity’ and ‘love everlasting’,.
