GEORGIAN MOURNING RING

A delicate high carat gold Georgian memorial ring with the wording DI CONNER OB 23 MAR 1769 AGE 37.

Behind the original curved glass is a hair lock tied with a twisted thread, resembling a wheat-sheaf.

The wheat-sheaf symbolised the harvest of a fruitful life, rebirth and renewal in Georgian times.

There is some loss to the black enamel but still very readable

Size approx: UK: M 1/2, US: 6 1/2

The ring is still in its original state so no replacement parts

Just a lovely example of a Georgian mourning ring.
