A rare and stunning pair of Georgian Ouroboros Snake hoop earrings.

Circa 1820/30, these hoops were made in England with 15ct yellow gold,

The earrings are designed to depict a snake biting its own tail when fastened.

I love the simplicity of the stylised snakes head and cross hatch scaled body.

They are perfect for everyday wear.

The ouroboros snake represents eternity and eternal love, and was a popular symbol in 18th and 19th centuries.

As with many earrings of this period, they are ‘back loaders’ so the earring pass from the back of the ear to the front to fasten.

The hinge is in great working order, and the earrings fasten securely.

Antique snake hoops are very rare to find, and these are in great condition.
