A superb chunky Georgian Pinchbeck belcher chain, with a wonderful rich gold colour.
The chain closes with a fantastic hand clasp with a coiled snake around the cuff!
The hand also wears a ring, set with a pinky red paste stone.
The chunky links have a raised circular pattern giving the chain a gorgeous texture.
At just over 47” long, it can be worn either once, twice or three times around the neck, for different looks.
The links are a large scale, so the chain makes a fantastic impact when worn!
Pinchbeck is a brass alloy. That looks very similar to gold, and doesn’t tarnish like other metal alloys.
It was invented in the early 18th century by Christopher Pinchbeck, a London clock- and watch-maker.
It is collectible in its own right!
This is possibly the best example of pinchbeck that I have found so far!!!
