DESCRIPTION
Georgian Regency Period, circa 1820
A stunning acrostic Georgian Heart locket made of 15ct yellow gold.
To the front, the locket has a gem set forget-me-not flower.
The first letter of each stone spells out a secret acrostic message: ‘REGARD’.
(R)uby, (E)merald, (G)arnet, (A)methyst, (R)uby, (D)iamond.
The entire surface of the puffy heart is textured with applied bead work.
The border of the heart has wire rope work surrounding tiny spheres.
The heart opens and closes securely, which makes it is perfect to add a keepsake.
The heart hangs from a gorgeously chased large bail, so the pendant can hang easily from a fine or thick chain.
‘REGARD’ sentimental jewellery was extremely popular at the beginning of 19th century.
These lockets were given as a token of love, to show that your loved one holds you very close to their heart.
