VICTORIAN 15CT GOLD SWALLOW BIRD PENDANT

A gorgeous Victorian Swallow bird pendant made of 15ct gold.

The entire body and wings of the Swallow are finely chased to replicate the feathers. The detail is insane!

The bird has gem set garnet eyes and holds a pearl set olive branch in its beak.

Swallow jewellery was often given to loved ones as they set out on a journey as a token to keep them safe. The bird was a symbol of love and protection to help ensure their safe return. This originated from sailors who used swallows as a sign of homecoming. The sighting of one of these birds meant that land was near.
