Victorian period

A super cool chunky Victorian Bee brooch.

Circa 1870/80; The bee is made of 18ct yellow gold.

The fine chasing details the tiny hairs on the bees back to the veins on his wings!

The modelling is very realistic, and the attention to detail is second to none.

The bee is finished off with rose cut diamond eyes.

The reverse is a smooth gold with a large pin, making it easy to add the brooch to your favourite chunky knit or coat lapel!

Insects were a very popular motif in Victorian jewellery, and there was always symbolism and meaning attached.

The bee was often associated with

Hard work, loyalty, team work and industriousness.

A wonderful example of Victorian naturalistic jewellery.
