This is a really chunky Victorian safety pin, made in 15ct gold. 

It has a lovely pearl flower terminal.
The workmanship is just lovely - the way the pin closes is so neat, and you can’t prick yourself once the pin is fastened!
Great on a chunky knit, or as a chain extender.
