VICTORIAN ESSEX CRYSTAL / REVERSE INTAGLIO PINSCHER DOG BROOCH

A large 19th century Essex Crystal Pinscher dog brooch, circa 1870.

The reverse painting of the Pinscher dog is in excellent condition; he wears a red collar with a tiny silver bell, and his ears are alert! 

The dome of the crystal is super deep.

Set in a high cart closed back gold setting with a fabulous plaited border.

Hallmarked for Vienna on the reverse.

A wonderful example of a reverse intaglio; the quality of work is excellent.
