A gorgeous pair of Malachite and silver Ivy leaf earrings, circa 1880.
The earring leaves are formed of carved malachite that show the wonderful banded shades of green that is typical of this stone.
The earrings have the original domed malachite tops and silver wires.
The ivy leaf was a popular motif during the Victorian era. It symbolises; enduring love, fidelity and friendship.
The Ivy plant is known to be strong, and cling to any surface it comes across to survive and grow.
Ivy jewellery was often given as a wedding gift as a sign of a strong marriage.
