A totally unique 18ct gold Ouroboros snake hinged bail, pendant or ring.

Dating from the early 19th century, the design is modelled as an Ouroboros snake biting his tail.

What makes this piece totally unique is; The head of the snake twists to unfasten, and the ring hinges open, making it super easy to add to a chain or to add pendants.

The head then screws shut to make the ring completely secure.

The ring has cross hatching and pitting along the snakes body, and has a carved bulbous head.

The attention to detail is fantastic, with the end of the screw thread creating the edge of the snakes mouth!

This piece can be used to add charms to a chain, be worn as a ring, or used as a chain extender.

The ring is in excellent condition, and the carving of the snake is fantastic.

The Ouroboros has been a popular symbol since ancient times. Literally meaning ‘tail-devourer’.

The symbol represented the concept of ‘eternity’ and ‘love everlasting’,
