18CT GOLD SNAFFLE & ELEPHANT HAIR BANGLE

A super stylish 18ct gold snaffle and elephant hair bracelet. 

The bracelet has a wonderful solid 18ct snaffle design, with an integral clasp.

The gold snaffle is joined by plaited strands of elephant hair with gold.

Elephant hair became a popular accessory during Victorian times

It was bought as an exotic souvenir during the British Raj, when Western European adventurers started visiting India and would commission elephant hair jewellery as a souvenir of their safari experience.

The single strand of hair was taken from the elephants tail, and wrapped in gold.

Elephant hair jewellery has been made since and is seen to prevent illness and harm, as well as bring love and luck.

This bracelet is likely to have been made early to mid 20th century.

It is so cool how modern the design still looks.

The bracelet can be worn alone but also looks fantastic stacked with multiple bangles.
