A gorgeous French 19th century four leaf clover pendant.
The large flat, oval shaped pendant is made of 18ct gold, with the design of a four leaf clover at the centre.
The clover is made with a technique called ‘plique-à-jour’ which is an enamelling technique that dates back to the Byzantine era.
Transparent enamel is fused to the gold framework of the design, this allows the light to pass through, lighting up the colours of the enamel like a stained glass window!
The words ‘SANS LUY RIEN’ are enamelled around the clover, which translates to ‘without it/him (I am) nothing’
The clover could form part of a rebus puzzle to say ‘without good luck I am nothing’
Either way, this is a stunning pendant that will look gorgeous alone or with a bunch of other charms.
Hallmarked with the French eagles head on the bail and the pendant.
