STUNNING CABOCHON STAR SAPPHIRE RING

The high domed Sapphire is a light blue to lilac colour.

When the light catches the stone a beautiful star lights up below the surface of the stone.

The stone is flush set in a chunky 18ct gold band, which perfectly compliments this stunning Sapphire.

The optical phenomenon responsible for the star sapphire’s shimmering rays is called asterism, from the Latin word astrum, for “star.” Asterism is caused by small needle-like inclusions of the mineral rutile.

These sapphires have long been a highly coveted and prized stone, admired for their mystical aesthetic, and as a talisman across centuries.

The Star Sapphire is said to ward off the evil eye, as well as bring luck to the traveller.

They were believed to be so powerful that the wearer would be protected even after they passed the sapphire on.
