This is a super cool early 19th century carved Coral Figa hand pendant.
The hand is beautifully carved, even detailing the veins on the back of the hand!
I think this may be the best hand I’ve found so far!!!!
The hand is clasping a high carat gold micro belcher chain from which a white coral ‘horn’ amulet hangs, these were worn as protection against ‘the evil eye’.
The clasped hand has a high carat gold ruffled cuff and a large jump ring making it easy to add the pendant to any size chain!
These hands were originally carved in Italy, by master craftsman that managed to depict the hand so realistically, down to the fingernails.
This is however, the first and probably only one I will find that has such detail on the veins!
