FRENCH VINTAGE SILVER COIN MANICURE SET WITH CHAIN

A super cool silver coin manicure set, made from a Louis Phillppe I silver coin.

Originally made from real coins by master knife maker Eloi Pernet, and known as ‘dream coins’. The coins were split in two and a set with a hidden blade, file and scissor.

After 1974 the French government declared it illegal to debase national currency. But as Eloi Pernet was so highly regarded, they were allowed to continue the design using replica coins.

It is extremely hard to tell whether they are original or replica, this one is likely circa 1970, and this one is particularly interesting as the knife is engraved with L.D.P 10E ANNÉE, which suggests a commemorative or anniversary piece from the 10th year of production.

It has makers mark and the french crab hallmark in multiple places to confirm silver of 800 quality.

The knife is also marked ‘Eloi France’ and the file marked ‘Depose’

Each utensil hinges out from inside the coin, and hides neatly away after use.

A very cool item that looks epic on a chunky chain.
