A stunning early 19th century hand and snake pendant made in 15ct gold.
Circa 1820/30; the pendant has been modelled in 3D so looks great from all angles.
The front has a deep scrolled foliate cuff set with three bright turquoise stones.
The hand has a wonderful stippled texture all the way around to the fingers.
The hand wears a lovely pink faceted ruby ring on the forefinger, and clasps an ouroboros snake!
The detail is wonderful, the snake has a happy face and his tail curls around creating the perfect loop to use as a chain extender!
The pendant also looks fabulous hanging on a simple chain.
The Georgians often used the hand motif as a symbol for loyalty, fortune and strength.
The ouroboros snake represented the concept of ‘eternity’ and ‘love everlasting’.
A very cool pendant!
