A gorgeous Georgian Ouroboros pearl locket pendant, circa 1820.

The snake, who is biting his own tail, is made of graduated juicy pearls, with a gem set faceted garnet eye.

The snake coils around the original glass locket that hinges open at the back.

The glass is slightly domed and in great condition.

The frame is made of 15ct gold.

The Ouroboros has been a popular symbol since ancient times. Literally meaning ‘tail-devourer’.

The Ouroboros represented the concept of ‘eternity’ and ‘love everlasting’,.
