A super cute early Victorian Cut Steel pendant representing ‘Faith Hope & Charity’
The pendant has a trilogy of tiny cut steel charms - A cross, an anchor and a heart.
These hang from a chunky dome of cut steel, and a large metal bail.
Cut steel became extremely popular in the Georgian period as the faceted pieces of steel twinkled perfectly in candlelight.
It continued its popularity late into the 19th century.
Each piece of steel would be riveted individually to a metal plate.
‘Faith, Hope & Charity’ or ‘Faith, Hope & Love’ charms were often given as a gift to keep the recipient forever safe and protected from harm.
A gorgeous sentimental piece
