A charming 19th century sepia miniature pendant.

The watercolour depicts a pair of kissing Doves amongst pansies, with the letters EB. The detail is beautiful in the muted sepia and pastel colours.

The reverse of the pendant has a Pansy made from hair. With the letters AL.

Likely given as a gift between lovers, a couple maybe with the initials ‘EB and AL’.

Doves symbolise peace and purity. A a pair of kissing doves are a symbol of devotion and love.

The French word ‘Pensée’ translates as both Pansy and thoughts. ‘Pensée a vous’ means ‘Thinking of you’ and ‘Pensée a moi’ ‘Think of me’,

The pendant is set in a chunky 18ct gold frame, and bail, which is hallmarked with a French Owl.

A lovely sentimental piece.
