VICTORIAN 15CT GOLD & DIAMOND LUCKY BEANY PENDANT

A gorgeous Victorian Lucky Bean pendant made of 15ct gold and set with a single rose cut diamond in a gypsy star setting in the centre of the bean!

The yellow gold has a lovely antique patina, and is in excellent condition. 

The bean has a partially legible hallmark on the reverse. 

Lucky beans were popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

The charms were inspired by the "sea beans" that were found occasionally washed up on European beaches after travelling on the ocean from far flung places.

These beans amazingly could still germinate after many months at sea, this led people to believe that they must be infused with powerful good luck. Ad have since been given as gifts to bring luck and good fortune.
