A very cool Victorian compass made of 15ct gold!

I have never seen one before that has a fish as the needle!! It is so good!!

The chunky star shaped frame is made of 15ct gold, with a ball finial between each star point.

The double sided compass has the cardinal points around the edge in black and red text.

There is is black text that reads  PATENTED W.H.H.’

This is for William Henry Harling, who was a prominent British manufacturer of scientific and drawing instruments during the mid Victorian era.

They also specialised in novelty items such as this fish compass!

The original glass panes are slightly curved. And the compass is completely clear at the centre so you can see right through. The fish looks like he’s swimming

Looks epic on silver or gold chains.
