A beautiful Victorian Lucky Bean pendant made of 15ct gold and set with a lovely faceted blue Sapphire stone.
The gold has a slightly textured surface, to mimic the skin of the bean.
The bean is in great condition with no dents.
There is a partially legible makers mark on the reverse, and is hallmarked 15ct.
Looks gorgeous on a chain alone or with a group of charms.
Lucky beans were popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.
The charms were inspired by the "sea beans" that were found occasionally washed up on European beaches after travelling on the ocean from far flung places.
These beans amazingly could still germinate after many months at sea, this led people to believe that they must be infused with powerful good luck. And have since been given as gifts to bring luck and good fortune.
