VICTORIAN BRIGHT BLUE BEE ‘INDUSTRY’ TASSIE INTAGLIO PENDANT

A gorgeous bright blue ‘Tassie’ glass intaglio pendant.

The intaglio has a finely carved bumblebee, with the word ‘INDUSTRY’.

The colour of the glass is stunning, lighting up an electric blue when the light hits.

Bees have been a popular symbol in jewellery since ancient times.

They came to symbolise industriousness, friendship, wealth and selflessness.

The intaglio has been set in a very simple 9ct gold setting, to allow the story of the piece to take centre stage.

A Tassie is a paste or glass copy of a cameo or intaglio.

Scottish gem engraver James Tassie created replicas of ancient engraved agates and gemstones and developed a formula for an opaque glass that could replicate various colors and patterns.
