VICTORIAN ENAMEL PANSEY SILVER BOOK PENDANT

A totally gorgeous Victorian book pendant made of silver.

The pendant has a beautiful enamel Pansy design on the front in colours of purple and green.

The book opens to reveal a silver gilt interior, with a central page, that has a slim slot at the top so you can add a tiny picture or slither of paper.

The locket closes securely with a silver catch.

The Pansy symbol was extremely popular in antique jewellery because of the French word ‘Pensée’ which translated as both Pansy and thoughts.

‘Pensée a vous’ means ‘Thinking of you’ and ‘Pensée a moi’ ‘Think of me’, so it became the perfect motif for jewellery, and was often gifted to a loved one as a gesture of thoughtfulness and love.
