A rare Victorian peg doll charm made of sterling silver.
The doll is hallmarked for Birmingham 1897, with the lion passant to confirm the silver is of sterling quality.
This example is not articulated, however all the joints are detailed nicely.
The peg doll became popular in the late 18th century. They originated from Germany
They were called peg dolls as they looked like old fashioned clothes pegs.
