A gorgeous silver Victorian Swallow bird pendant.

The entire body and wings of the Swallow are finely chased to replicate the feathers. The detail is beautiful.

The bird holds a tiny silver sphere in its beak.

Swallow jewellery was often given to loved ones as they set out on a journey as a token to keep them safe. The bird was a symbol of love and protection to help ensure their safe return. This originated from sailors who used swallows as a sign of homecoming. The sighting of one of these birds meant that land was near.

Looks gorgeous on a simple chain
