VICTORIAN SNAKE FOB WITH REBUS INTAGLIO

A super cute mid Victorian coiled snake fob with a rebus puzzle intaglio!

The boggle eyed snake is biting his own tail, and his coiled body forms the bail and stand of the fob.

He has wonderful crosshatch detail on his head, and the cutest face.

The fob is made of a 9ct gold with a slight rose patina.

The base for the fob has a quartz intaglio with an encrypted message:

‘I expect a line in return’

These fobs were used to seal letters in the Victorian era, so this cheeky sender made sure the recipient knew they wanted a reply!

I think it’s just so clever!!!

Looks great alone on a chain or part of a neck mess.
